In the Chinese Zodiac, 2018 is the year of the dog. In numerology, the number 2018 represents cooperation, building, and limitlessness. At Bloom, 2018 means time to get it right and achieve your dreams. However, before we look to the year ahead, it’s essential to take a look back.
What Did 2017 Mean to You?
When we make resolutions, we often focus on the future. We think of the things we dream of accomplishing and write them down without much thought or reflection. If you want to be a part of the 8% of individuals who achieve their New Year’s Resolutions, you’ll have to do better.
Our actions, successes, experiences, and failures in 2017 will ultimately impact our ability to achieve our goals in the coming year. It doesn’t matter if it pertains to business, family, health or what have you; we have to look briefly at our past to direct our futures.
Before you set your goals, take some time to write down what you would have liked to achieve in 2017. Then write down why you failed. Afterward, write what you did accomplish in the past year. Don’t be humble, think of all aspects of your life and write what things brought you joy and satisfaction. Now it’s time to write down the things you would like to accomplish in the coming year. Use the information in front of you to not only set a goal but make a detailed plan to accomplish it. Attach dates and deliverables. Visualize yourself on the brink of 2019, completing this activity once more.
If you must, frame this piece of paper and put it on your office wall.
The Charlotte Women’s Experiment Group
The Charlotte Women’s Experiment group is a new initiative launching January 1st for female entrepreneurs. At Bloom, we look beyond the traditional definition of entrepreneurship. Whether you are a stay at home mom, a corporate worker, or a self-employed individual, you are an entrepreneur by our books so long as you are following your passion to help yourself through helping others.
Why do we have this definition of an entrepreneur? Business ownership and philanthropic initiative are about more than dollar signs and notoriety. It is about developing the whole person, from professional goals to psychological wellness; from physical health to emotional intelligence; from spiritual growth to social engagement. We are more than one-dimensional creatures. We are multi-faceted human beings who must ensure that our goals align with our needs for personal satisfaction and happiness.
Create a Positive Outlook Through Action
There is a simple yet profound saying that everyone should keep in mind when looking at the year--or years-- ahead:
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Take actionable steps toward making a change. Look into what steps you must take to travel to that dream location, start that new business, or feel happy and at peace with your life. Remember, through cooperation and building you will be limitless; every dog has its day.
